The Press Photo Festival is based upon the World Press Photo exhibit in the Groningen Aa-Kerk. It’s an exhibit you don’t want to miss out on. The World Press Photo exhibit is based on an annual press photography contest. Winning pictures are compiled into a yearbook and a traveling exhibit. The exhibit stops in ninety cities worldwide, including Berlin, Dar es Salaam, Prague, Tokyo and Zagreb.
The World Press Photo entries attempt to show all aspects of human existance. Being press pictures, they hold up a compelling mirror to today’s world. In this way, World Press Photo stresses the importance of photo journalism and tries to help cultivate the freedom of the press globally. The World Press Photo exhibit constitutes an extensive and high-quality event, that invites visitors to consider some intriguing images from daily life, nature, sports, art and culture.
